Fast Growing Industries Are Driving the Demand For Flame Resistant Fabric

Published on: Friday 28th July 2017

Clothing is one of the basic needs of every human being. Humans started to cover their bodies with tree leaves when there was no fabric invented. In the course of time, the fabric has undergone many revolutionary changes and now in the 21st century, we have invented flame resistant fabric.

Flame resistant fabrics are generally those which are naturally resistant to flames of fire than those fabrics which are manufactured using fireproof fibres and are chemically treated. Such fabrics are mainly used in Fire Brigades as it is a necessity of a firefighter. Similarly, nowadays such kind of fabrics are used in household curtains, commercials furniture coverings, school-college-company uniforms, household furniture coverings and other industrial protective clothing.

According to the latest market surveys published by a prominent global market research and consulting firm, the flame-resistant fabrics market is expected to cross USD 5 Billion by 2022, expanding at CAGR of 6.6% from 2016 to 2022.

Rapid industrialisation is one of the major driving forces causing an increase in demand for fire resistant fabric. Safety of workers in any industry is always a major concern. Hence, every industry demands to have uniforms made of such fabric. Similarly, Chemical and Oil-Gas Industry highly demand such fabrics for machine coating as well as uniforms of workers. Worldwide many accidents in these industries are reported due to the lack of the preventive measurements before such accidents.

Asia-Pacific region is the fastest-growing region as far as the fireproof fabric industry is concerned. Naturally, fast growing chemical, oil & gas industries are the major factor driving the growth of flame resistant fabric’s market in the region. Currently, Europe accounts for the largest market for fireproof fabric followed by North America.

Along with the growing industries, stringent government policies are also one of the prime factors why the demand of flame resistant fabrics is increasing across the globe.

Brands are now planning to set up their base in this emerging vertical to make their presence felt worldwide. Thus, their attempt to address the rising need in the developing market is likely to open new avenues.
